Broom Corn Whisk Broom Making at Jubilee Farm

The art of broom making is ancient. The use of a broom is understated. The ways of making a broom are plentiful. The artisan’s broom is unique.

Join Rachael at Jubilee Farm in Carnation for an introductory class in making brooms. Using Jubilee Farm’s broom corn, we will work with natural bristles and further process them ourselves. From field harvest to drying and curing, we will pick up the next steps in the process by combing the seeds and prepping the broom corn tassels for whisks and brushes. Participants will learn broom-tying techniques and ways of making different style brooms (without sticks!). Come explore the wild and beautiful natural fiber of this sorghum species and play with the natural and magical ways of broom making.
