Girl's Forest Circle- Fall Series

Come gather, create, and explore the outdoors this Fall! This is an opportunity for girls age 10-13 years old to come together and learn hands-on earth skills while tending their hearts and the hearth of fire. In this three part series, participants will learn how to build and maintain fire, identify and make wild food, learn cooking skills over the fire, understand water purification, and build legitimate shelters for the PNW while growing awareness and confidence within place.

Potential Themes/Activities:
Fire
Activity: Wild wood fires, fairy fires, many ways to light a fire (igniters, sparks, friction, etc.), torches, char cloth, fire enhancers, and more!

Food & Water
Activity: Gathering and making use of Fall’s seeds, nuts, and berries. We will prepare different wild foods and practice various forms of primitive cooking.

Shelter
Activity: How many types of shelters do you know how to build? What’s the best suited for the PNW? Convection, conduction, and radiation- the thermal lessons of staying warm and dry in the woods. We will build shelter (s) with the hopes of a winter overnight to try them out!
